Is it proper to have a male friend/associate fix my family computer for free?

It wouldn't be for free. You'd owe him a favor. If do you say yes be sure to invite a bunch of people over and have a small get-together so won't have to be alone with him. Invite one of your single girlfriends. Otherwise I think to could be awkward.
