Would it be bad idea to email/call fortune 500 exec for internship?

Well I applied at this company for a summer internship. I sent them my resume and cover letter and just called today to see the status. They told me the whole application process would take some time and they'll get back to me. Well through a certain website I found direct contact information for the company's CFO/vice president. I really want to email or call this guy to see if he can land me the job. I know this is kind of out of line, but maybe it'll work if i do it right. Let me know what your thoughts are on this. Thanks.
